Commander College 101 - Basic Training provides practical guidance and renews your passion for kids’ ministry. Commander College 101 takes you a step further. Commander College 101 helps commanders develop a comprehensive Awana ministry that equips your church, leaders and parents to raise kids that know, love and serve Christ. It starts with your role as commander. You will gain a clear understanding of your responsibility as an advocate, shepherd, administrator, communicator and leader for your program. This is critical as you learn how to integrate Awana into your church’s ministries, manage and motivate your volunteers, avoid common administrative traps, communicate effectively in all kinds of situations and grow a healthy, life-changing program! Teh regional training will be held on June 27-29 at the Sullivant Memorial Christian Retreat Center in Norman, OK. Cost is $325 (includes lodging and six meals!) - you can register online.

Awana Ministry Conference - The 2008 Awana Ministry Conference locations and dates have been released! This one-day event will train, encourage and inspire Awana volunteers, pastors, Sunday school teachers, youth workers and parents. This conference will feature general sessions and workshops that provide ideas, instruction and inspiration to help everyone grow in his specific roles. In 2008, the Awana Ministry Conference focuses on service — building pastors, children's ministry workers, youth leaders and parents into more powerful servants. In one day, we will ignite a passion for ministry with a variety of practical workshops. Choose the ones that are most relevant to you. You will immediately use the skills you learn to reach kids and teens with the gospel. Our local conferences will be held on Saturday, September 6th (Evergreen Baptist - Bixby), September 20th (Choctaw Rd. Baptist - Choctaw), and October 11th (Corn Mennonite Brethren - Corn) so mark you calendars now!
